An unnamed Pope was in office during the Third Vatican Council (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies, 90).

Events[]

Prior to the third session of Vatican III he had just returned from the first papal visit to Andorra, and, in 1984, had taken a trip to several Catholic colleges in the United States, including Mount Athos College in Corfu, New York. His secretary, Father Cordwain, attended the overseas visits.

Inspiration[]

In reality, Pope John Paul II would have been the head of the Catholic Church from 1978 to 2005.  As Karol Józef Wojtyła, he took part in the Second Vatican Council and was appointed archbishop of Kraków in 1964[1].

This pope's overseas visit to the United States would have been the second papal visit to that country following the first by Paul VI. No word if the aforementioned notes found in the desk of a New York advertising executive were put to any use for this visit.
