Paul Zelinsky is the illustrator of the Puffin paperbacks in the Johnny Dixon series released during the 1990s. As the then-most recent illustrator of the Dixon series, his work was seen on other editions from other publishers into the 2000s, such as the Polish editions published by Amber.

Zelinsky grew up in Wilmette, Illinois and now resides in Brooklyn, New York. His first book appeared in 1978, since which time he has become recognized as one of the most inventive and critically successful artists in the field. He is the 1998 recipient of the Caldecott Medal.
