The Duke of Cornwall donated a phial of the blood, purportedly of Christ, as a relic to Hailes Abbey (The Dark Secret of Weatherend, 177).

Emerson Eells identifies the blood's donor as the "Duke of Cornwall" (Dark, 177), while in reality it was Edmund, 2nd Earl of Cornwall, that donated the relic[1]. Edmund and his father, Richard, who founded the abbey in 1245, were earls of Cornwall[2], not dukes. The Duke of Cornwall is a title in the Peerage of England, traditionally held by the eldest son of the reigning British monarch[3].
