Father Crostaciano is the Rector Tranquillis of Rome's Instituto Superbo who bought all the June 1940 editions of Sherds, which questioned the validity of Saint Floradora, and hid them in the storeroom of the Vatican Library (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies, 81).

Crostaciano is a Italian portmanteau of crosta ("crust"[1]) and ciano ("cornflower, cyan"[2]).
