Blue Pigeon is a town in Minnesota where two of Anthony Monday's relatives - Aunt Elda and Uncle Hartley - lived (The Lamp from the Warlock's Tomb, 78). Anthony likens Blue Pigeon to Stillwater, both small, dreary towns where nothing dangerous or exciting could happen.
No town carries that name in Minnesota, though it appears to be an allusion to White Pigeon, Michigan, a small community on the border of Michigan and Indiana. Bellairs's great-grandfather, James Bellairs (possibly the inspiration for Grampa Barnavelt), is buried in White Pigeon.
