Blue Pigeon is a town in Minnesota where two of Anthony Monday's relatives - Aunt Elda and Uncle Hartley - lived (The Lamp from the Warlock's Tomb, 78). Anthony likens Blue Pigeon to Stillwater: small, dreary towns where nothing dangerous or exciting could happen.
No town carries that name in Minnesota, although Bellairs has possibly created the name from White Pigeon, Michigan, a small community on the border of Michigan and Indiana. Bellairs's great-grandfather, James Bellairs (possibly the inspiration for Grampa Barnavelt), is buried in White Pigeon.
